A hundred thousand euros is a significant sum. For many people it represents a large share of their savings, and the question is always the same: where should it go so that it makes sense over time? Property abroad is one of the possible options. Here we look at why Cape Verde, and Boa Vista in particular, deserves consideration.
What people investing this sum in property are looking for
People who come to us with a budget of around €100,000 usually want three things:
- a real asset, not a financial product;
- a property they can use for holidays, on their own or with family;
- the chance to make it earn when they are not using it, without turning it into a second job.
The point is to find a place where this sum buys a quality property, in an area with genuine tourist demand.
Why Cape Verde with this budget
On Boa Vista prices start at €50,000 and go up to more than €500,000. With around €100,000 you are therefore in the part of the market with the most choice: furnished properties, close to the sea, within complexes with services.
There are also some contextual factors:
- growing tourism, with 1,248,052 tourists in 2025 (source: INE Cabo Verde);
- more than 55 km of beaches and more than 300 days of sunshine a year on Boa Vista;
- an international airport and flights from Europe;
- the Cape Verdean escudo, pegged to the euro at a fixed rate, which we cover in more detail in the guide on the escudo and the euro.
What you can buy with around €100,000
An apartment you use and manage yourself
For example the Estrela do Mar Apartment in Sal Rei, a furnished one-bedroom (T1) with a balcony, at €65,000. This leaves a margin for furnishings, initial costs and the unexpected. It suits those who want complete freedom of use and are happy to organise the management themselves.
A suite with a pool near the sea
The Por do Sol suite with pool, at Praia Cabral, costs €90,000: furnished, with a terrace overlooking the pool, a few metres from the beach.
A suite in an Apart-Hotel: The View
Suites at The View start at €90,000. It is an Apart-Hotel of 65 suites on the beach at Praia Cabral, with 98% of the suites facing the ocean. The property is registered in your name, not a share; management is entrusted to professionals and you have 4 weeks a year of personal use. Handover is expected at the end of 2028.
How to choose: three questions
- How many weeks a year do you plan to spend there? If many, a traditional apartment gives you more freedom.
- Who will look after the property when you are not there? If the answer is “nobody”, a format with professional management makes more sense.
- Do you need the property straight away or can you wait? A ready property can be used immediately; an off-plan one is received at handover.
The differences between the two formats are explained in full in the comparison between an apartment and an Apart-Hotel.
What not to do with €100,000
- Do not invest everything if you have no other reserves: keep a margin for additional costs and the unexpected.
- Do not decide on price alone: two properties at the same price can differ greatly in location, services and management.
- Do not sign without checks: tax and legal matters must be checked with a professional. You will find practical guidance in the guide costs and taxes for buying a home in Cape Verde on Boavista2000.com.
- Do not underestimate the risks: they are listed, along with ways to reduce them, in the guide on the risks of investing in Cape Verde.

Frequently asked questions
With €100,000 can I buy a sea-view home on Boa Vista?
In many cases, yes. At this budget you can find suites and apartments near the sea, such as the Por do Sol suite at Praia Cabral at €90,000. At The View, 98% of the suites have an ocean view.
Is it better to split €100,000 across two small properties?
It depends on your goals. Two properties mean twice the management and twice the checks. A single well-located property is often simpler to look after over time.
Does the property stay registered in my name in the Apart-Hotel format too?
Yes, at The View the suite is registered in the buyer’s name: you are not buying a share in a fund. You can use it, sell it or leave it to your heirs.
Can I pay for the property in instalments?
Payment terms depend on the property and the contract. For an off-plan property they are usually linked to construction progress. They should always be read carefully and checked before signing.
